William
W. Calhoun was born in Atlanta,
Georgia in 1960. He graduated from the University of Georgia in
1983, and then attended the University’s Law School, receiving his
J.D., cum laude, in 1987. Mr. Calhoun practiced privately in Atlanta
for three years, and then joined the office of the Attorney General
for the State of Georgia. During his nine years as an Assistant
Attorney General, Mr. Calhoun primarily represented the State Health
Planning Agency (now the Department of Community Health’s Division
of Health Planning) and the Department of Insurance, with a
secondary emphasis on the Board of Regents. His experience in
regulatory matters and litigation on behalf of the State of Georgia
is extensive.
Mr. Calhoun is a member of the Dougherty County Bar
Association, and the State Bar of Georgia. He is active in service
to the Bar, having served as a member of the State Bar of Georgia
Disciplinary Investigative Panel from June 1996 to June 1999, and
currently serving as Chairman of the State Bar of
Georgia’s Health Law Section. He is also a member of the American
Health Lawyers Association. Since joining Langley & Lee in November
1999, Mr. Calhoun has represented clients in a variety of commercial
matters involving a wide spectrum of businesses, but has continued
to emphasize health care and insurance law. Mr. Calhoun often serves
as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia.
